Hepatitis A is usually transmitted through a fecal-oral route. Hepatitis A is more common in people who practice oral-anal sex, people who live with an infected person, and people who live in unhealthy living conditions.
Infection also occurs:
via contaminated food or drinking water.
in developing regions with poor hygiene standards.
travelers to countries with a high incidence of the disease.
Hepatitis A IgM antibody is detectable one week after exposure, and can remain so up to 6 months after.
